A Seminar on Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Adults from Sexual Abuse and Maltreatment was conducted by the Jesuit Chennai Province for all non-teaching staff of LIBA on 12th April 2022. Ms. Surya, Librarian, welcomed and introduced the Resource Person, Fr. Irudayaraj, SJ. Fr. Irudayaraj shared about the nuances of the Protection Policy for Minors and Vulnerable Adults. He elaborated that the policy aims to enhance the security of the staff and students and create awareness about the availability of the policy to protect them. He also explained the legal system available to implement the policy, and clarified the legal aspects of the policy, actions to be taken, whom to approach, how to give a written complaint, confidentiality about the details of the complainant, etc. Fr. Irudayaraj said that similar workshops would be conducted in all Jesuit institutions for all the faculty, staff, and students. Thereby the safety and protection of the staff and students who work or study in the Jesuit institutions will be ensured. The Seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session.
