The Professor C.K. Prahalad Centre for Emerging India (CKPC) and the Centre for Sales Excellence (CSE) at LIBA launched a collaborative social impact project to empower the tribal women in Chennai through training in product development and sales skills. Under the leadership of Rev. Fr. C. Joe Arun, SJ, Director-LIBA, and with guidance from Fr. Y. Poondy Rajan, SJ, Finance-Controller-LIBA, the initiative was conducted in partnership with the Jesuit Migrant Service (JMS). On 26th September 2024, the project began with a field visit to a village near Tiruvallur District, following which Fr. S. Packiaraj, SJ, Director of Jesuit Migrant Services (JMS), delivered the welcome address. Students of F24 batch facilitated group sessions with the tribal women to gather information on their living conditions and aspirations, concluding the two-and-a-half-hour session with valuable insights for the project’s next phases.
