The Faculty Retreat 2023 was held at LIBA, Chennai from 27th to 29th April 2023. Rev. Fr. C. Joe Arun, Director-LIBA, led the group in a prayer for disposition, emphasizing Inner freedom, Awareness, Openness, and Generosity, in addition to sharing perspective of the retreat. He stressed that LIBA must adopt the new paradigm by developing an ecosystem of “Self-Directed Learning” and transforming instruction into a form of accompaniment and mentoring that aids students in developing employable skills for the age of the digital revolution. The Review and the Action Plan of the Academic and Administrative Areas, Centres, and Clubs were presented by the respective Officials, Area Chairs, and the Centre Heads. The Director appreciated and acknowledged the great work done by faculty in the previous year and made constructive recommendations for the upcoming academic year, establishing “Self-Directed Learning” as the focus, with the goal of fostering cognitive abilities, system skills, complex problem-solving abilities, content skills, social skills, resource management skills, technical skills, and physical abilities (health and fitness). For the faculty, the retreat was a revitalizing and reviving event which came to an end with an examen asking God’s blessing on the coming academic year 2023–2024, which they envisioned as metacognitive awareness to facilitate self-directed learning.
