The Faculty Seminar Session was conducted on 8th February 2024 by Dr. Alagu Perumal Ramasamy on the topic ‘A Conceptual Framework for Plastic Waste Management.’ He explained that plastics that are produced from non-renewable sources such as crude oil, release harmful chemicals into the environment during the production and degradation process are bad (source) plastics. However, given the beneficial physical and chemical properties of conventional plastics, it may be desirable to use them for most part. However, it is in the Use and After-Use, the distinction needs to be inculcated in the minds of the people. So, bad plastics being made to Good Use and Recycled at the end (Good After-Use) is still a desirable option and various combinations were suggested.
