The BMI session conducted on 16th of December’20 was graced by Mr. Gaurav Kwatra, an INSEAD MBA graduate and one of the partners at Oliver Wyman an international management consulting firm providing specialized services in strategy, operations, risk management and organizational transformation.
He started the session on a positive note that though 2020 is a strange year because of the pandemic, this difficult time shall too pass.
He also told the listeners about the four major objectives that he had about his career
- To get high payment
- To secure a job that makes him look cool among his friends
- To be in a job that requires him to solve problems
- To be in a people service job.
“Time is the most valuable asset”
He elaborated on how he started to value time more than anything. His major takeaway after ten years of MBA is that time is the most valuable asset. He mentioned about the Herzberg’s Motivation Theory, where money and fame are hygiene factors. Though they don’t provide job satisfaction yet lack of them leads to job dissatisfaction, so he advised the listeners to find their measure of those hygiene factors.
He also encouraged the listeners to read as many books as possible to get an outlook on what they actually expect in their career, life. He emphasised on the importance of seeking opportunities that gives both motivation and fun.

“He has started with the quote ‘ time is the most valuable asset’ and given his insights about the year 2020 will be more challenging than how it was in 2010. This ensured that we have to keep upskilling ourselves. He stated how his goals and perspectives about being rich and looking cool in front of others changed over the years. The best statement I would say that caught my attention is ‘ Being rich can be defined as the number of work free years the money can afford’. Also, I have understood the fact that focusing on the work we love doesn’t make the work tedious. Setting up one’s primary and secondary goals is one important aspect which he has said. Adding to that we should discover the philosophies and activities that found to be meaningful to us meanwhile upholding the trust of clients or anyone whom we are working with!!.”

“This BMI session gave a new perspective of what one should expect in one’s career path. The stress on considering time to be the most valuable asset is an important take away point for me. Looking forward for more interactive BMI sessions”
